Dr. Lee Hlad
Originally from upstate New York, Dr. Hlad received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburg, New York. He then transitioned from his home town of Lowville, New York (where there is said to be more cows than people) to Harlem, New York City. Dr. Hlad received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed a three-year surgical residency at Grant Medical Center in Columbus Ohio, a level one trauma center where he was chief resident. Dr. Hlad then went on for further advanced training at The Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he completed a one year Pediatric and Adult Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction Fellowship. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Prior to joining Ankle and Foot Associates in 2019, he was in private practice in Columbus, Ohio for over 6 years.
Dr. Hlad has a profound interest in deformity management and correction and has traveled and spoken around the world on these topics. He is very active in surgical medical missions and often leads groups to the Dominican Republic and Haiti performing complex reconstructions and, at the same, training native surgeons and
staff to do the same. Dr. Hlad was named “Attending Physician of the Year” in 2017 at Grant Medical Center. Dr. Hlad has authored many articles and continues to work to better the profession and outcomes of his patients by participating in ongoing research. Dr. Hlad regularly teaches resident and fellow courses around the country and speaks regarding pediatric flatfoot, charcot reconstruction, minimally invasive procedures, external fixation for deformity corrections, and advances in bunion correction. He is certified on numerous total ankle systems and practices minimally invasive approaches to many surgical corrections.
Dr. Hlad is very active in his community and church. He is married and has three beautiful children as well as a puggle dog named Gertrude Moon Unit. He enjoys all aspects of outdoor activity, is an avid jeep enthusiast, and tinkers with woodworking.
